Ellen G. White was a prolific writer and sought-after speaker who lived from 1827-1915. Her knowledge and inspiration came from God. Among educational reformers, she is without a peer. Her book, Education, has been praised by Christian and secular educators alike, including Florence Stratemeyer, Professor at Columbia University’s Teachers College from 1930-1965. When addressing a convention of teachers, Ms. Stratemeyer said, “Recently the book Education, by Ellen G. White, has been brought to my attention. Written at the turn of the century, this volume was more than fifty years ahead of its times. … The breadth and depth of its philosophy amazed me. Its concepts of balanced education, harmonious development, and of thinking and acting on principle are advanced educational concepts. ” Quoted by Roger Coon in A Gift of Light, p. 56.
